Welcome to the Alameda Photographic Society

We invite you to explore photography through friendship, workshops, competition and learning programs. Look around, get to know our photographers, our mission, places we visit and the excitement of expression; better yet come to one of our meetings and see for yourself.

Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

We meet semi-monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. at 2441 San Jose Ave. in Alameda, CA (with the exception of December and the fourth Tuesday in July).  Look for the side door of the First Christian Church.  It says Fellowship Hall; just come up the stairs to find our group.

To compete with your images and have trained judges provide feedback, join our ClubCLICK HERE to download the application, or CLICK HERE to pay your dues with PayPal.

You can also join our Meet-up to receive meeting announcements:  http://www.meetup.com/Alameda-Photographic-Society/

Competition nights are on 2nd Tuesdays (Not in December). Program nights are on the 4th Tuesdays (not in December).

Pictorial Inter-club Competition   PSA rules required that we submit six images by six different makers. There will be quarterly submissions by our club. The judges, by the way, will not be anyone entering the competition.  Thanks go to all club members who submit their images for consideration. The Board encourages all members to submit their favorite images for the next PSA Pictorial submission, to be announced soon.

Names of the past winners and thumbnails of their selected images are visible to members on our website CLICK HERE, where they can be expanded to larger format.

Northern California Council of Camera Clubs

The Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C) is the umbrella organization for 11 San Francisco Bay Area camera clubs, whose members comprise photography enthusiasts—beginners, amateurs and professionals.

N4C provides an opportunity to grow photographically and compete at an inter-club level. Most individual member clubs hold their own local monthly judged competitions in two photographic mediums, Prints and Projected Images, and in various subject matter.

Join in the fun with N4C and their local camera clubs. Participate in field trips, seminars, and workshops, share learning experiences and camaraderie among fellow photographers in your area! We use the N4C competition definitions and rules for all of our competitions.

The March 2015 publication of the Foto FanFare Newsletter listed the First Place through Honorable Mention and Best in Show for projected images and prints from last month’s judging for all N4C camera clubs whose images placed in their local competitions.  Congratulations to Stan Schonberg for receiving Best in Show for his image “Coming Through” in the Pictorial category.  Can’t resist those cute kids!   Members Allen Hirsch, Kotomi Ito, Bob Hirschfeld, Lenny Rush, Stephen Hahn and Terry Toomey also received place awards for their images.
