  • Saturday, December 10th - Field Trip to Petaluma Historic District and Waterfront (CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER)
  • Photo ops: Historic buildings, Victorian homes and downtown streets done up for Christmas plus evening Lighted Boat Parade.

    Where: Conservatory of Flowers 100 John F Kennedy Drive, San Francisco (in Golden Gate Park)   https://conservatoryofflowers.org

    Essentials:  Join us for a full wander through a San Francisco treasure, the historic  and world renown Conservatory of Flowers. Explore this unique Victorian building, first opened in 1879, and the galleries inside.     Wednesday, July 27 at  4pm  Field Trip / Photo Walk at the Alameda Marina

    Essentials:  Join us  for a late afternoon photo walk between Wind River Park and Mariner Square.  Waterfront life, both human and otherwise, is the primary draw. There are lots of boats, people playing and living on the water, birds and the occasional marine mammal can all be found on this walk along the water.  The entire walk (one way) is 1.5 miles and takes about 30 minutes to complete.  And - if you’d like to stay a while, you’ll have plenty of action to photograph as the Oakland Yacht Club (located near Wind River and the Encinal Yacht Club) puts on its Wednesday Night sail boat races - known as the Sweet 16 Series. Starting time is 6:30pm. Detailed information for viewing the race is included with the Photo Walk map (Click here for map).

    Wednesday, June 1st 1pmField Trip to Capay Valley Lavender Farm

    Join us for a special afternoon of photographing lavender fields and surrounds in the peak season

    We've been offered a unique opportunity - we have an exclusive invitation to explore these lovely fields and to stay through the golden hour.  The farm will not be open to the public during our visit.  Many thanks to Sonia Dunning for making this trip possible.

    April 7th:  Join us for an afternoon of exploring the architecture and gardens of the new and exciting space being heralded as the Grand Central of the West!

    April 23rd - Enjoy the cherry blossoms in bloom at one of the Bay Area's premiere Japanese Gardens

    When:  Saturday, April 23rd - meet inside the front entrance at 11:am  

    Lunch: Please bring your own lunch  We will meet for a lunch break at the picnic area at 1pm.

    Fees: Under 65: $10; Seniors: $8

    • Where: UC Santa Cruz Arboretum and Botanical Gardens:  1490 High Street, Santa Cruz, CA
    • When: Wednesday, March 16, 2022, 9:00 am
    • Fees: $8 for seniors; $10 for <65.  Credit/Debit cards are not accepted. See  PDF for more details.
    • Be Safe: Plan to bring a mask and abide by the masking rules posted at the garden and other locations you choose to visit.

    February 2022

    • When Sunday, February 20, 2022.  This is a very picturesque area and you will want the best light to work with.  
      • The park opens at 9am and closes at 5pm. 
      • On Sunday, sunrise is at 6:26 am and sunset is at 5:54 pm.  
      • Choose the time of day for your visit that will give you the light you want.
    • Fees:  $10 per vehicle to enter the park.
    • Carpooling:  Please make your own arrangements in advance for carpooling. If you do not have an email address for the individual(s) you would like to reach, use the club’s email system to message one or more club members about the trip.
    • Parking: To access Beauty Ranch, park in the Upper Parking Lot
    • Be Safe: Given the nature of the recent COVID variant, we ask that you plan to wear a mask and maintain social distance whenever you are with others - indoors or out. The Park requires that guests wear a mask when entering the Museum and the Cottage.

    January 2022

    Wednesday January 12th: Merced National Wildlife Reserve.  7430 W Sandy Mush Rd, Merced, CA 95341. This trip is scheduled to take advantage of the peak of the Sandhill Crane migration.  To be on site for the Sandhill Cranes' morning fly-out and/or the evening fly-in, you may want to make this an overnight trip. More details to come.
